NCGrowth is supporting a project recently launched by a partnership between RainDai2 LLC and The Thomas Entrepreneurship Hub in Pembroke. They aim to tackle issues impeding and slowing agriculture in Pembroke. The goal is to improve the farming community and promote local produce by finding new markets in Pembroke and across North Carolina.

A local company, RainDai2, opened a 2500 cubic foot walk-in cooler in Pembroke, The Produce Place, which serves as a distribution hub for farmers in the area. They work closely with Sodexo which manages the UNC Pembroke dining facilities and FreshPoint, a Raleigh based produce distributor. The inclusion of the cooler in the distribution cycle will cut transportation costs, improve the quality and safety of the farmers’ produce and generate more revenues through increased access to new markets.

As The Produce Place looks to increase their capacity and expand, they need a strategic growth plan. NCGrowth is supporting the effort this fall.
