House Democrats and the Trump administration are "really close" to an agreement on changes to the new North American trade pact, according to Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal. The Massachusetts Democrat said that could happen as soon as this week, reports Pro Trade's Megan Cassella.

Neal is leading the nine-member Democratic working group negotiating changes with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.

He said that working out the remaining concerns over the trade deal's labor provisions could be the final step, paving the way for a House vote on ratification before the end of the year.

But the congressional calendar is rapidly shrinking. The House is out of session next week and is scheduled to return Nov. 12. Democrats and Lighthizer plan to huddle this morning.
