SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 470,000 sows during the September – November 2019 quarter and 465,000 sows during the December 2019 – February 2020 quarter.

PIG CROP The State’s pig crop during the June – August 2019 period totaled 5.0 million head, up 1% from the same period last year.

PIGS PER LITTER Pigs saved per litter averaged at 10.5, compared to 10.3 pigs saved during the same quarter last year.

HOGS & PIGS Hogs and pigs on North Carolina farms September 1, 2019 totaled 9.5 million head, up 3% from June 1 and up 2% from September 1, 2018.
