Muscadines are often recognized for their disease and insect resistance, but recent research has shown that the South’s native grapes are vulnerable to parasitic nematodes. Vineyard owners have long known that European grape varieties are vulnerable to nematodes, but a new joint survey conducted by scientists at the University of Georgia and North Carolina State University shows that plant-parasitic nematodes also affect Georgia’s native grape crop, muscadines.
