According to the 2017 agriculture census, there are about 74,000 agriculture producers in North Carolina, and 27% of those producers are new and beginning farmers. Only 9 percent of North Carolina’s farms sell directly to the consumer. We need new farmers to meet the demand for locally grown food in North Carolina.
