A new award will honor the local tradition of livestock farming. Beginning this year, the local Cooperative Extension Office will award the Madison County Livestock Farmer of the Year to one accomplished resident. The winning farmer will receive a $300 cash award, assorted apparel, a free year's subscription to The News-Record & Sentinel and will be recognized during the county's annual livestock meeting in May. Their name and the name of their farm will appear first on a plaque celebrating Madison County Livestock Farmer of the Year winners.
