Seven organizations, including an animal rights group from North Carolina, are claiming that new pork production rules will “expose pigs to greater suffering” and have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The animal rights groups groups also claim the changes defy federal slaughter, meat inspection, and environmental protection laws.
