Wilson County’s estimated income from sales of farm products was $143,608,104 in 2019. That is up from the $114,276,457 the county saw in 2018, a year ravaged by Hurricanes Florence and Michael. But the total is down from the $144,671,567 the county saw in 2017. The top crop in 2019 was sweet potatoes, at $42.9 million, followed by flue-cured tobacco at $34.8 million and nursery greenhouse at $16.4 million. “Overall, Wilson County had a better year in agriculture in 2019,” said Norman Harrell, director of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension office in Wilson County.
