Some 169,000 households and small businesses across North Carolina that lack access to high-speed internet could be provided with faster speeds if a new federal program is approved by the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC plan – if passed by FCC commissioners on Jan. 30 – would provide more than $20 billion through a Rural Digital Opportunity Fund.
