From patchwork to consistency, new era of water regulation is a win for state ag regulators

National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) CEO Dr. Barbara P. Glenn issued the following statement today after EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler announced the introduction of a new Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule.
“We are thrilled at the announcement of a new water rule to provide our farming community with certainty and a clear view of how water will be regulated on their land. We have been functioning under a tangled patchwork of water regulation for far too long. As leading state ag officials, NASDA members are responsible for protecting natural resources in conjunction with the Clean Water Act. We look forward to working with the EPA to implement the rule and eliminate ambiguity while safeguarding our nation’s water resources.”
