WINTER WHEET SEEDINGS 2020 winter wheat seedings in North Carolina total 440,000 acres.

COTTON SEED North Carolina farmers produced an estimated 318,000 tons of COTTON SEED in 2019.

SOYBEAN OFF FARM GRAIN STOCKS Soybean off farm grain stocks totaled 12,761,000 bushels on December 1, 2019, a 30% increase to the 9,825,000 bushels reported on December 1, 2018.

SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 460,000 sows during the December 2019 – February 2020 quarter and 470,000 sows during the March – May 2020 quarter. 

PIG CROP The State’s pig crop during the September – November 2019 period totaled 4.85 million head, up 1% from the same period last year. 

PIGS PER LITTER Pigs saved per litter averaged at 10.55, which is up from the 10.15 pigs saved during the same quarter last year.

HOGS AND PIGS All hogs and pigs on North Carolina farms on December 1, 2019 totaled 9.2 million head, down 3% from September 1.
