Following USDA’s announcement of the Agriculture Innovation Agenda at the 2020 Agricultural Outlook Forum, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture CEO Dr. Barb Glenn released the following statement:

“NASDA members have agreed—climate resiliency and adaptation must be a priority to make a lasting impact for the nation’s farmers and ranchers. State departments of agriculture share Secretary Perdue’s goal of responsibly meeting future food and energy demands. The Agriculture Innovation Agenda’s (AIA) focus on the next generation of American production, innovation and entrepreneurship sends a clear signal to the agriculture community. Together we must seek creative partnerships and business models that effectively address the economic and environmental challenges facing rural America. NASDA members are committed to doing their part.”

NASDA CEO Dr. Barb Glenn and Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture Bruce Kettler will speak at the 2020 USDA Agricultural Outlook Forum today. Dr. Glenn’s remarks will focus on building partnerships for climate resiliency across the public and private sectors.

NASDA members voted to adopt new policy on climate resiliency during the group’s Annual Meeting last fall. State departments of agriculture are also playing a leading role financing climate resiliency across the country. On Wednesday, February 26, NASDA members will meet during the NASDA 2020 Winter Policy Conference to discuss next steps on climate resilience and other NASDA policy issues.
