NC State University continues to work with county and state health officials to monitor the evolving outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and to prepare for the potential of significant impacts to the university. As such, the university is taking proactive, appropriate measures to plan, prepare for and address COVID-19 concerns at NC State University.

Effective immediately and until further notice, NC State University is prohibiting on-campus events, meetings, and gatherings of more than 100 people. As the N.C. 4-H Horse Program is an NC State University program, this will affect the State 4-H/FFA Horse Judging Contest scheduled for April 18. At this time, the event is not canceled. However, we recognize that there is a high likelihood that holding the event in-person as traditionally done will not be possible. If this is the case, an online competition will be held instead on the same date and during the same time frame. A final decision regarding the event, as well as more detailed information about an online contest, will be made two weeks prior to the event. While we recognize that an online competition cannot truly replace a live horse event, we are trying to do the best that we can with the constraints that are currently in place while still providing a valuable educational experience for our 4-H and FFA members.
