 Out in the strawberry fields, the berries are ripening slightly ahead of schedule. Local strawberry grower, Micheal Beale of Kildee Farm at 936 Kildee Farm Road near Ramseur, said the fruit in the field is about 15-20 percent ripe. Berries should be ready to harvest in about 3-4 weeks depending on the weather, he said.
