USDA compiling a list of essential
PPE and Sanitation Supplies
|
In
light of the COVID-19, there has been a decrease in the availability of
PPE. Therefore, to help insure that there is sufficient inventory in the
supply chain, USDA, is compiling a list of needed items by farming operation.
We were made aware of it based on a press
release from the Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers. We
need your assistance in this matter! While the press release says the
information is due 3/30/20 by 5 PM, we have an extension and this
information is needed by the end of the week, if possible.
Things
to remember:
- This list is not to directly supply
PPE to farmers but to ensure that it is in the supply chain when
needed. Therefore, please include items you
anticipate needing in the next 30 days.
- In regards to respirators, remember that N95s and P100
filter or combination cartridges are only good for 8 hours cumulative
use so that should be figured in. For example, if someone knows they
will be spraying for 24 hours then that's 3 sets of cartridges or 3
N95 respirators depending on the pesticide.
- If you need PPE for non-pesticide related tasks (grain
bins, livestock production, welding, etc, please include those as well.
There
are a couple of options to help us gather this information. Please see
below.
