A local textile company is taking a page right out of the World War II handbook for citizen participation. American Giant, previously Eagle Sportswear, has halted production of its sweatshirts in an effort to sew Department of Health and Human Services-certified medical face masks as part of the U.S. Textile Manufacturing Coalition to fight the spread of COVID-19. “Last week we joined a coalition of domestic manufacturers who have come together to address the massive shortage of medical masks facing the country,” said Bayard Winthrop, founder of American Giant.
