Hanesbrands Inc. is placing an additional 575 U.S. employees on furlough and temporarily closing 1,200 retail stores as part of its latest response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its global business. The Winston-Salem company said 180 local employees are included in the furloughs. Hanesbrands also said it is rapidly ramping up its production of surgical masks at its Latin American plants.
