The Trump administration won’t let the coronavirus derail its plans for the president’s signature trade deal to take effect this summer, which matches President Donald Trump’s timeline before the pandemic brought the economy to a halt. Trade officials in the U.S., Mexico and Canada have remained in close contact in recent months as they work to meet trilateral requirements so the deal can go into effect this summer. In those talks, USTR has specified its desire for the deal to enter into force on July 1, Mexican officials and U.S. people close to the talks say.
