I am officially a part of a number. I just went online to answer my 2020 census questionnaire. Henderson County was established in 1838, but it took three additional years before the county seat was agreed upon. The 1840 population of 5,129 rose in the next 10 years (1850) to 6,853. Historian J. T. Fain Jr. uses the census of 1840/1850 to describe the county of Henderson as isolated and rural. A total of 26,254 acres of land was listed as “improved for farming”... and 126,767 as “unimproved.” The value of farms was $376, 746. I want to know how much of the county is still dedicated to agriculture.
