Across Wilson County, farmers are still farming. “It’s what we do,” said Heather Barnes, marketing specialist with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. “We still have to grow food and fiber for people every day, regardless if there is a virus, if there is a hurricane or if there is a drought. Whatever challenges are thrown at us, farmers are resilient, and we keep farming. People depend on us for their food supply.” Barnes is the wife of Lucama farmer Brooks Barnes of Jeff and Brooks Barnes Farms LLC. For more of this story, click here.
