COVID-19 aid payment limits raise flags for livestock groups

Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue rolled out some details of the first wave of government support to deal with COVID-19. However, the U.S. Department of Agriculture continues to work on finalizing details for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). Livestock groups are encouraging the agency not to include payment limitations in the final rule, which is expected in May. While many details of the program have yet to be released, initial reports indicate that CFAP will have a payment limit of $125,000 per commodity and $250,000 per producer.
