North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper signed a $1.57 billion relief package on Monday to aid the state's response to the coronavirus pandemic after lawmakers developed and passed the bill last week. The General Assembly’s COVID-19 bill, funded through federal aid the state received through the CARES Act passed by Congress, includes $125 million for the Golden LEAF Foundation to provide grants to organizations for the purpose of making emergency loans to small businesses impacted by the pandemic.
