 Steve Whitmire wants to know if the reporter on the phone is looking to buy some beef.  He's joking. His sense of gallows humor is more finely tuned than his filter these days, he said. Whitmire is the owner of Ridgefield Farm, which supplies his meat label, Brasstown Beef. Though his cattle outnumber the people who live in his Clay County town, Whitmire is no small-time producer.
