A bipartisan group of senators introduced new legislation requiring a minimum of 50% of a meat packer's weekly volume of beef slaughter to be purchased on the open or spot market. The bill also requires that cattle be delivered within 14 days. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa), along with colleagues Sens.
