This month the full scale of the economic devastation from COVID-19 will become apparent as we start seeing more data from the second calendar quarter. However, understanding exactly what these data say about the full impact on households and businesses is going to be particularly challenging because unique aspects of the pandemic distort the data. So how do we take what we can learn from the data and use this knowledge to guide a restart, and eventual full recovery, of the economy?
