Move to ease small-business coronavirus loan conditions fails in Senate

A Republican effort to pass a bill easing terms for business owners who take out Paycheck Protection Program loans fell short Thursday as senators headed home for a weeklong Memorial Day break. The bill, offered on the Senate floor by Sen. Susan Collins, a Maine Republican, and pushed hard by Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, would have given loan recipients twice as much time in which to use the PPP loans.
