COVID-19 economic loss survey for NC producers
Story Date: 6/10/2020

Source: NCDA&CS

The data in this survey will be compiled by the North Carolina Farm Bureau Federation, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and other North Carolina commodity associations.

USDA is currently accepting comments from agricultural industries seeking Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) funding through a Notice of Funding Availability published by USDA FSA.

CFAP assists agricultural producers impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak.

While many types of agricultural production are already covered by CFAP, some affected crops were not originally included due to lack of information. USDA is specifically seeking information from the aquaculture and nursery products agricultural sectors. For producers of products that may have been stored when the pandemic struck, such as apples and sweet potatoes, NCFB and NCDA&CS are seeking additional marketing information regarding economic loss.

Producers of commodities not included on the original CFAP list who believe they've suffered a five percent or greater price decline between the weeks of January 13-17, 2020, and April 6-10, 2020, and who face additional marketing costs due to COVID-19, may submit information to be considered.

If submitting for more than one commodity group, please submit another form after completion.

For more information on CFAP, please visit https://www.farmers.gov/cfap.

These responses will remain confidential.

Please submit your responses by Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
