BrightFarms has started construction on a 280,000-square-foot hydroponic greenhouse in Hendersonville, N.C. The facility has the capacity of producing more than two million pounds of greens for supermarkets in the area, according to a news release from the Irving, N.Y.-based company. BrightFarms chose the location because of its central location to retailers in the southeast. “We have longstanding relationships with customers that have a strong footprint in North Carolina and the surrounding states,” Abby Prior, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.
