US Congressman McHenry:Addressing the economic impact of the coronavirus

On Wednesday, the Financial Services Committee held a virtual hearing with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. During my opening remarks, I commended the Fed’s rapid and decisive action to prevent the worst effects of the economic catastrophe brought about by the coronavirus. According to the Fed’s economic projections, we will still be facing unprecedented unemployment for the rest of this year, nearly twice the unemployment rate we experienced as recently as February. Fostering an economic recovery that creates jobs must be priority number one as we continue to combat the impact the coronavirus has had in our communities.
