The COVID-19 global pandemic has been an incredibly difficult time for North Carolinians, which is why I have been hosting regular telephone town halls. These telephone town halls have given me the opportunity to directly listen to the concerns of North Carolinians and answer their questions.

On Monday, I hosted my 50th COVID-19 telephone town hall, taking questions from North Carolinians and discussing how I’m working to protect the physical and economic health of our state and nation.

I recently wrote an op-ed about the invaluable feedback I’ve received from the telephone town halls.

I will continue to hold additional calls in the coming weeks. North Carolinians can listen in by visiting access.live/Tillis and view the upcoming schedule by visiting my website.

Pushing for More Economic Relief for More North Carolinians

This week,  I introduced The American Citizen Coronavirus Relief Act, legislation that would amend the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and ensure U.S. citizens will not be denied federal coronavirus assistance because he or she is married to a foreign national who is not currently a citizen of the United States.

In March, I worked to pass the bipartisan CARES Act to provide economic stimulus payments to North Carolinians as we battle this pandemic. Every eligible citizen deserves this payment and I am proud to introduce legislation with Senator Rubio to fix this oversight.

Supporting Commonsense Police Reform

This week, I was disappointed to see Senate Democrats block the JUSTICE Act, legislation I co-sponsored that provides long-term solutions focused on police reform, accountability, and transparency, while also promoting efforts to find solutions to systemic issues affecting people of color such as education and health disparities.

In the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd, the JUSTICE Act was a commonsense solution that made much-needed reforms to law enforcement, strengthened accountability, and improved transparency. It’s shameful that Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats refused to even open up debate so we could reach consensus and get police reform signed into law.

appeared on Fox News to discuss the legislation.

Thank you for reading, and as always please reach out to my office if you have any questions or need help with a federal agency and please stay safe.
