Business-to-business connections at Flavors of Carolina food show on Feb. 24

WHO/WHAT: The Flavors of Carolina food show is the venue for 79 North Carolina-based food manufacturers to sample and pitch their products directly to grocery, restaurant, school, hospital and prison foodservice buyers. Companies will feature a variety of products, such as country ham, snack crackers, hot dogs, fresh produce, BBQ sauce, fine wine and more. The show is organized and sponsored by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will be on-site for questions or interviews.
This show is open to professional food buyers by invitation only. Not a public show. The media is invited to attend.

WHY: To encourage the purchasing of locally grown and processed foods. This show will generate millions of dollars in sales to North Carolina companies, provide top quality foods to our residents and tourists, and in turn, create demand for more local foods from our farmers.
GENERAL INFO:The Flavors of Carolina program began in 1986, and has showcased North Carolina companies up and down the East Coast. The Charlotte show is the most important show of the year, with the Charlotte metro area representing the largest collection of food manufacturers and the largest collection of food buyers in the region.
This is an excellent media event to cover both food production and food buying in North Carolina, and see how buyers are linking with N.C. companies on an increasing basis to satisfy demands for local foods.
