1 webinar session remains: creating opportunities to supply our military with NC food/beverage

Purpose: The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC), the  North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) Marketing Division  and the North Carolina Defense Technology Transition (DEFTECH) Office will co-host a no-charge, three-part WEBCON mini-series to promote increased North Carolina food and beverage sales and consumption through successful federal contract engagement and execution, and R&D activities to the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. This is a component of the NCMBC’s ongoing Federal Agency WEBCON Series.

Who should attend: North Carolina growers and producers of raw agricultural farm products, food manufacturers of value-added food and beverage products, and R&D entities engaged in food production and distribution to improve soldier and family quality of life, and/or nutritional research and development to improve human (warfighter) performance on the battlefield. 

Platform: All three sessions will utilize the Zoom for Government web conference platform. Meeting credentials will be emailed out prior to each session.

SESSION 1: Department of Defense Retail Food Opportunities

When. July 22, 2020, 11:00-12:30 EST

Description: DeCA acquisition processes for brand and non-brand items, product presentations to DeCA, prime vendor (PV) system, current PV contract holders and upcoming PV opportunities; PV operations and supplier qualification and requirements; distributor operations and supplier qualification and requirements; broker operations and roles; NCDA&CS “Got To Be NC” and NCMBC operations in support of food producers.

Description: Defense Logistics Agency Subsistence acquisition processes, prime vendor (PV) system, current PV contract holders and upcoming PV opportunities; Fort Bragg/military installation food service installations; DLA PV operations, supplier qualification and requirements; NCDA&CS “Got To Be NC” and NCMBC operations in support of food producers.


SESSION 3 :  Nutritional Research and Development and Human (Warfighter) Performance

When: August 5, 2020, 11:00-12:30 EST

Description. US Army objectives to improve human (warfighter) performance; Army initiatives to improve warfighter performance through nutrition; WAMC activities and support of nutritional research; ongoing nutritional research at Dole and the NCRC with warfighter application; DEFTECH/NCMBC operations in support of nutrition researchers.
