Dave Craven, formerly the chair of the Randolph County Republican Executive Committee, has been tapped to fill the NC District 26 Senate seat left vacant by the recent retirement of Jerry Tillman. Craven was chosen by a selection committee composed of Republicans in Randolph and Guilford counties. District 26 includes all of Randolph County and most all of High Point in Guilford County. The committee’s recommendation has been sent to Gov. Roy Cooper, who is expected to sign off on it within a week or so.
