USDA announces organic cost-share funds, organic groups unimpressed

The USDA has funds available to assist in the cost of certification for organic producers and handlers, but organic groups say more could be done. The Organic Certification Cost Share Program can cover up to 50 percent of certified operations eligible expenses up to $500.  The agency says FSA has revised the amount to allow a larger number of operations to receive the funds and says they might provide additional funding if authorized by Congress.
