Crowds still expected at farms, orchards as COVID forces Apple Festival changes

As the beloved Apple Festival celebrates its 74th year, the festival will not take over downtown Hendersonville this Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-7, for the first time in about 28 years since the street fair was introduced. Instead of the usual thoroughfare featuring 14 apple growers, live entertainment, food, vendors and children’s activities, and in light of COVID-19, the N.C. Apple Festival board of directors and the county’s apple growers have planned for the farmers and orchards to participate in the festival by welcoming festival-goers to their individual orchards and farms.
