Emerald ash borers found in Cleveland, Gaston counties

An invasive insect species known for killing trees has been discovered in Cleveland and Gaston counties. The North Carolina Forestry Service announced over the weekend signs and symptoms of the emerald ash borer have been located between Kings Mountain and Shelby. Signs of the insect are also in Gaston County. The discovery makes Cleveland County the 59th county in the state to show signs of the tree-killing bugs in North Carolina.
