Smithfield, the country’s top pork producer, aims to be the first carbon-negative meatpacker in the U.S. with the goal of removing more carbon emissions from the atmosphere than it produces annually by 2030, it announced Thursday. “The future of agriculture lies in minimizing our environmental footprint,” says Kenneth Sullivan, who has been CEO since 2015. “Because of our size and scale, we have an obligation to lead.” For more of this story, click here.
