We are excited to announce the addition of former U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre to our Agribusiness team.

At Ward and Smith, we've always been proud of our roots in agribusiness and understand how important this multi-billion dollar industry is to North Carolina.  We've dedicated 17 attorneys to help farmers, manufacturers, producers, suppliers, and other clients facing issues related to land, labor and employment, environmental regulation, energy, tax, and much more.  While our Agribusiness team has a proven track record of successfully representing our clients, Mike will make it even stronger.

As the Representative for North Carolina's 7th Congressional District, Mike supported and developed policies promoting economic development and business opportunities in North Carolina, especially in rural areas and farming communities, for nine consecutive terms.  One of his most notable accomplishments was co-authoring and co-sponsoring "The Fair and Equitable Tobacco Reform Act."  Commonly known as the Tobacco Buyout, the bill ended all aspects of the federal tobacco marketing quota and price support loan programs and provided payments to tobacco quota holders and tobacco producers from 2005 to 2014.

Mike will serve as the firm's Senior Advisor for Government Relations and Economic Development.  He will be based in Raleigh and will be available for clients across the firm's footprint.
