SOURCE: CROPLIFE AMERICA, 9/29/20 We need your support of FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act), the nation’s pesticide law, which provides for the federal regulation of pesticide distribution, sale, and use and establishes stringent safety standards and oversight.
H.R. 7940 and S. 4406 (the Protect America’s Children from Toxic Pesticides Act of 2020), would undermine the science-based standards contained in FIFRA. We need to defend the work of the EPA’s career scientists in the evaluation of pesticide safety and oversight of pesticide registration and use. The proposed legislation would jeopardize the innovation, and continued availability, of pesticide products by imposing an unscientific process that would unnecessarily remove pest control options from those who need them. Pesticides are a necessary tool to safely grow crops, protect homes and infrastructure, and control pathogens and other disease vectors that can threaten human health.
Please use this link to send a letter to your lawmakers asking them to support FIFRA and to oppose legislation that would undermine the current pesticide regulatory process. |
