SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 445,000 sows during the September – November 2020 quarter and 450,000 sows during the December 2020 – February 2021 quarter.

PIG CROP The State’s pig crop during the June – August 2020 period totaled 5.0 million head, down 4% from the same period last year.

PIGS PER LITTER Pigs saved per litter averaged at 10.5, unchanged from the same quarter last year.

HOGS & PIGS Hogs and pigs on North Carolina on September 1, 2020 totaled 9.6 million head, up 2% from June 1.
