Bananas and pineapples continue to represent the core of the organic business at Dole Food Co., Charlotte, N.C., said Bil Goldfield, director, corporate communications. The only change is in volume, he said. “More than at any other time in Dole’s 25-year organic program history — we harvested our first Dole organic banana in Honduras in 1995 — we are experiencing significant growth in consumer demand, fueled by changing nutrition and lifestyle preferences,” he said. “As a result, Dole’s product innovation team is looking at new organic products to meet this growing demand.” For more of this story, click here.
