OBSERVATIONS FROM THE FIELD The area experienced below normal temperatures and rainfall amounts totaling between .15"-.25" this week. Light frost to hard freeze reported with lows falling to 22-25F on the coldest mornings. Pastures are currently providing adequate forage for livestock. – JACKSON, SWAIN
Very wet soybean fields and quality is getting worse, with more rain predicted for next week. – PERSON
Drier weather allowed soybean harvest to continue, as well as other field activities. – PAMLICO
This past week provided some dry days and above average temperatures allowing for good working days as fields dried a little. During this time of year, the soil does not dry as fast and conditions remain too wet in many fields to harvest or plant. Additional rain is predicted this week that will certainly hinder these efforts. – GRANVILLE
