Could the Triangle be the home of AgTech? Why it should be

In North Carolina, agriculture accounts for 17% of jobs in the state and contributes approximately $91 billion to our economy annually. The state is home to more than 50,000 farms that produce more than 80 different commodities. While the area is home to major players in the agriculture industry like BASF, and more than 500 life sciences companies, we have yet to be recognized as the home of AgTech the way that Silicon Valley is for tech or Boston for pharmaceuticals. However, there’s a strong case to be made for that to change.
