Tropical Storm Eta directly hit Central America – over 3,000 miles away from North Carolina – earlier this month. Eta eventually downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. It wasn’t even close to the Old North State, and it never directly hit Lenoir County. But heavy rains produced by Eta caused the Neuse River to flood areas this week, reminding residents of Hurricanes Matthew and Florence.
