House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson of Minnesota congratulated Tom Vilsack and Marcia Fudge, candidates for the top jobs at the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Housing and Urban Development respectively, on the announcements of their nominations by President-Elect Joe Biden Thursday.

“I was fortunate to work with Tom Vilsack for eight years during the Obama Administration, and I know that he understands very well the challenges that farmers and rural communities face across the country. He will do an excellent job and I hope my Senate colleagues confirm him quickly so he can address the important work at hand at USDA,” Peterson said.

“Marcia Fudge has been a core part of the Agriculture Committee for many years, chairing the Conservation and Forestry Subcommittee during the 2018 Farm Bill and most recently leading our nutrition and oversight work. She sees the needs of American families and has worked to address those on our Committee,” he added. “While her leadership on the Committee will be greatly missed, she will do wonderful work at HUD, and I wish her the best.”
