Sen. Sam Searcy , D-Wake, will resign from the North Carolina Senate and endorse another Democrat to fill the two-year term he won in November, he confirmed Wednesday. Searcy, who represents southern Wake County in the Senate, said he's leaving for another position "serving the state of North Carolina in some capacity." He wouldn't give many details Wednesday morning but said it's not one of four cabinet secretary positions opening in Gov. Roy Cooper's administration. For more of this story, click here.
