North Carolina: Nine new laws taking effect on Jan. 1

There are more than a dozen new laws and state plans that go into effect on Jan. 1 in North Carolina.
New state laws
The new laws, along with their bill numbers and summaries, include:
• Continuing Education for General Contractors (SB 55)
An act to revise the law governing the licensure of certain general contractors to require continuing education for the purpose of enhancing the professional competence and professional responsibility of those licensees.
