As hemp gains popularity, some Eastern North Carolina growers face challenges

Businesses selling CBD and other hemp products have popped up around Wilmington in recent years.
They sell CBD oil alongside CBD-infused chocolates, gummies, seltzer waters and dog treats. At one downtown Wilmington business, you can even get a CBD facial. CBD is one of more than 110 known cannabinoids that can be extracted from the hemp plant. Federal regulations limit the amount of THC — the chemical that gives marijuana users a high — to 0.3% in hemp products.
