As The Fayetteville Observer reported last week, North Carolina farmers are working to generate renewable energy by capturing methane on their farms and converting it to biogas. The effort is accurately seen by many, including our elected officials, as a positive step forward that helps position North Carolina as a leader in clean energy. Others view it as another opportunity to attack our state’s pork industry. The reaction from one environmental activist? “Some of these people need to be in jail.” That retort came from a leader...
