WINTER WHEAT SEEDINGS 2020 winter wheat seedings in North Carolina total 460,000 acres
COTTON SEED North Carolina farmers produced an estimated 163,000 tons of cotton seed in 2020.
SOYBEAN OFF FARM GRAIN STOCKS Soybean off farm grain stocks totaled 13,723,000 bushels on December 1, 2020, an 8% increase to the 12,761,000 bushels reported on December 1, 2019.
SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 440,000 sows during both the December 2020 – February 2021 and the March – May 2021 quarters.
PIG CROP The state’s pig crop during the September – November 2020 period totaled 4.6 million head, down 7% from the same period last year.
PIGS PER LITTER Pigs saved per litter averaged at 10.50, which is down from the 10.55 pigs saved during the same quarter last year.
HOGS AND PIGS All hogs and pigs on North Carolina farms on December 1, 2020 totaled 9 million head, down 6% from September 1 and down 4% from last year.
